Thematic Bond: Fondo Mivivienda

PROFILE

Fondo Mivivienda was created in 1999 to address two of the main obstacles in the development of an effective private housing finance system in Peru: the lack of long term funding available and the high credit risk associated with middle and low-income groups, which discourage banks from servicing this population segment. Since its inception, Fondo Mivivienda has facilitated access to housing through the issuance of multiple bonds and enabled more than 80,000 Peruvian families to access over $ 2.1 billion in loans for the acquisition or renovation of quality homes.
